 Prompt Response:  One thing that makes me different from other people is my name. My name (Kamari) isn't a very common name in the U.S but is more common in African and Arabic countries. Summary: Took notes on poems created by Emily Dickinson Reflection: I learned that rereading and defining words within a poem helps you better understand what it's about. Knowing this information will better help me get an understanding of poems as we continue in this unit.

Prompt Response: My mind is a hurricane, constantly swirling and never staying in one place for long. My mind is always racing and constantly forming new ideas. Summary: Worked on Common lit assignments in class today. Reflection: The assignments that we did in class today really challenged my mind. They were quite hard to get through but felt rewarding when I completed.

 Prompt Response: An adventure I would like to go on is a trip around the world. I want to go and see the sights and experience everything there is to try. Summary: Took our first vocab quiz in class. Reflection: I learned that I should always be prepared and always review everything we do in class. I want to always be ready to give my best effort in case of a pop quiz or needing to know something from a previous unit in a later one.

  Prompt Response: Something I will never fully understand is why schools don't have classes to teach students how to do taxes and other types of things that we will need to be able to do once we graduate highschool. Summary: Presented Origin Myth posters in class. Reflection: I learned a lot from this unit and think I gained a better understanding of Origin Myths. This knowledge will better help me later in life and as we continue this semester.

 Prompt Response: The most creative thing I ever made was a fictional story about a hero fighting against a dragon. It stands out as my best work because it was for a literature class back in middle school and a lot of people ended up enjoying the story. Summary: Finished our Origin Myths in class and began working on our posters to go with them.  Reflection: I learned about the Adobe Express website. This application will help me in making more expressive presentations as we continue into the semester and even later in life.

 Prompt Response: Two of my most burning questions about life are the meaning of it, and if we only live to die. These questions matter to me because I want to be able to live knowing that there was some meaning to my life and that I existed. Summary: Began writing our Origin Myth Narratives. Reflection: I learned that thinking about due dates stifles my creativity. Knowing this will help me better write Narratives as we continue on through the semester.

 Prompt Response: A time I felt completely lost was when I was younger and couldn't decide if I wanted to spend my summer with my mom or with my dad. I enjoy spending time with both of them and at the time I just didn't know what to do. Summary: Presented our group presentations in class today. Reflection: I learned the difference between a topic and a theme. Knowing this difference will better help me understand and differentiate between the two as we go further into the semester.

Prompt Response: I feel that I have adapted quite well to the demands of the course. I believe I am very good at identifying the theme within the myths we read so far but I do still struggle with the symbolism and allusions which will most likely be a problem later on in the course. Summary: We took an assessment over an origin myth in class today.  Reflection:  I learned that there is a difference between the term personified in general and in regards to origin myths. Learning this new information will help me better understand origin myths.

 Prompt Response: When I was younger I was jealous of one of my cousin's toys and broke it and they were mad at me for 2 weeks. Summary: Began working on a group project on the text "The Jealous Father". Reflection: I learned how jealousy can be harmful to a relationship. Knowing this will better help me understand how emotions like jealousy can influnce the actions of characters within text.

 Prompt Response:  A meaningful object in my life is my necklace because it was given to me by my dad before he left to work out of state and it reminds me of him constantly. Summary: We read an Origin Myth about Navajo Creation. Reflection: I learned about how most origin myths have biblical allusions. Understanding this connection could better help me relate and understand origin myths as we go deeper into this unit.

Prompt Response: A time I felt connected to nature like the kinship in Native American myths when I helped around my neighborhood and cleaned around the street. Summary: Today we began an intro to Native American myths. Reflection: I learned about the difference between myth and religion. Knowing this will help me better differentiate between the two as we move forward in the unit.
