Prompt: Write about a time when you realized you needed to look out for yourself in a silly or harmless situation—maybe dodging a pop quiz, escaping a group chat argument, or remembering at the last second to submit an assignment. How did choosing wisely make your life easier?

The last scene forces readers to reinterpret Emily’s entire life. Write about a moment when new information changed your perception of a person or situation. How did that “plot twist” reshape your understanding, the same way Faulkner’s ending reshapes the story?

Prompt Response: I was watching a show where the protagonist is betrayed by one of his closest allies, and later on in the show we are shown that the person who betrayed the protagonist was actually doing it to kill the main antagonist who ends up killing the traitor who he only saw as a pawn. This plot twist changed the way I viewed the traitor as I originally thought he was a terrible person only to find out that he was just a pawn trying to get revenge on the antagonist who used him to commit his crimes. Summary: Completed pop quiz over short story "A Rose for Emily". Reflection: I learned that Internal and External conflicts can be somewhat similar to one another. People often react with disbelief when they hear about real-life stories that seem just as unbelievable. Write about the most shocking or “craziest” news story you have ever heard. What happened, and why did it stand out to you? How did people react to it, and what does it reveal about human behavior?

Prompt Response: The Craziest story I heard was this morning on the radio where this one man had 16 baby mamas and married 5 of them. My mother and I were just shocked as to how something like that even happens and it reveals that humans are very lustful creatures.
