Reflect on a time when you paused to appreciate the beauty of nature, much like the speaker in “Stopping by Woods on a Snowy Evening.” Where were you, what did you notice, and how did that moment of stillness make you feel or change your perspective?

 Prompt Response: A time that I reflected on nature was a day when it snowed and just sitting there watching the snow fall made me feel at peace like there was nothing anyone could say that would break me. Summary: Began working on One pager over Robert Frost's The Sound of Trees. Reflection: I learned one pagers are a way to show both an understanding and appreciation of a text. Knowing this will better help me express how I feel about poems as I progress through my academic career.  

Prompt: In the poem, the speaker and his neighbor meet each year to repair a wall. Describe a time when you had to set or respect a boundary with a friend, family member, or classmate. How did it help or hurt your connection with that person?

 Prompt Response: A friend I have used to get really close to my face when they would speak to me and I told them that I didn't like it when they did that and it made me uncomfortable so they stopped and I like to think that it made our relationship stronger. Summary: Completed Common lit assignment. Reflection: I learned that poems can have multiple themes that are about different types of topics. Knowing this will better help me as I progress through my academic career.

Prompt: Both poems by Robert Frost explore the passage of time and life’s changing moments. Write about a time when something in your life changed more quickly than you expected. How does this experience connect to Frost’s idea that “Nothing gold can stay”?

 Prompt Response: When I was younger my dad told me he had to move away for work I didn't think that he would move away the next day, it was sad to see him leave but I understood why he had to. This connects to Frost's idea that nothing gold can stay as my dad visits but he isn't always there when I wish he was. Summary: Annotated Robert Frost's "Nothing Gold Can Stay" and began worksheet over the poem "The Road Not Taken" Reflection: I learned that poems can have a topic, theme, and moral, message or lesson within it. Knowing this will better help me understand and relate to poems as we progress through this lesson.

Prompt: As we think about our upcoming Vocabulary Monday, tell me what is your favorite word RIGHT NOW? Why is it your faovorite word and how often do you use it?

 Prompt Response: My favorite word right now is celibate. It is my favorite because I think it's such a random word compared to the other vocab words. I don't use the word very often. Summary: Began finishing "Climbing Back to Childhood" Power point. Reflection: I learned that people often look back on their lives wishing that they experienced everything that they could. Knowing this will better help me enjoy my life as I grow older.

In “Birches,” Robert Frost celebrates imagination as a way to escape life’s difficulties and reconnect with innocence. The speaker wishes to “get away from earth awhile” but also understands that he must eventually return to reality. Think about the role of imagination in your own life. How does imagination help you cope with challenges, boredom, or stress?

Prompt Response: Imagination helps me create scenarios in my mind that I can use to help escape my boredom throughout the day. Summary: Completed annotation over Robert Frost's "Birches" Reflection:  I learned that sometimes going back to places and experiencing things from your childhood helps you reset yourself and help deal with burnout. Knowing this will better help me as I progress through my life.

After reading “Out, Out—” by Robert Frost, reflect on a time when you faced a dangerous or high-pressure situation that demanded your complete focus. What made the situation risky, and how did your concentration affect the outcome?

 Prompt Response: A high pressure situation I was once in was when I was frying chicken one night and if I lost concentration I would end up burning myself with the oil. Summary: Annotated the poem "Out, Out" by Robert Frost. Reflection: I learned that some poems put an emphasis on inanimate objects through personification to show their importance to the poem. Knowing this will better help me in creating my own poems.

Prompt: Write about what you did over the Fall Break.

 Prompt Response: Over fall break I visited Tuskegee University for a campus tour. Summary: Worked on Vocab comic strip. Reflection: I learned that the word censure which means to criticize sharply. Knowing this will better help me in writing and expanding my vocabulary.

Prompt: How do you find time to enjoy your day, even when you have a lot going on? Write about at least three specific things you do to enjoy small moments throughout your day.

Prompt Response: I find time to enjoy my day by using the little moments in between the day. I talk to my friends about school and work. I watch funny videos to help clear my mind. I read stories that interest me like graphic novels. Summary: Completed Argument Paragraph on Tim O'Brien's "Ambush". Reflection: I learned about informal language. Informal language is used in relaxed situations like talking with friends or your parents and gives a more relaxed tone. Knowing this will better help me as I progress through my academic career.

Prompt: Describe a time when someone’s words had a lasting impact on you.

 Prompt Response: A time someone's words had an lasting impact on me was when my parents told me that no matter what kind of life I choose to live they will always be there to support me. Summary: Worked on argument paragraph of Tim O'Brien's "Ambush" Reflection: I learned about formal and informal language. Formal language is used within essay's to give them a more active tone. Knowing this information will help me as I progress through my academic career.

Prompt: Write about a moment when you had to step out of your comfort zone.

 Prompt Response: A moment when I had to step out of my comfort zone was back in elementary school where I was in the chorus and given a duet with another student and was attention of the crowd even though I hate having all eyes on me. Summary: Read TIm O' Brien's "Ambush". Reflection: I learned that some people refer to deaths as "good kills". I personally don't think there is such a thing as a good kill it's either a kill out of necessity or a kill for fun. 

Prompt: Write about a dream that felt real.

 Prompt Response: A dream that felt real to me was when I almost fell off a cliff. Summary: Completed lesson 3 vocabulary and newsela assignment. Reflection: I learned that the word bovine refers to cattle or cows. Knowing this will better help me with my writing as I progress through my academic career.

Prompt: Write about something you’ve always been curious about.

 Prompt Response: I've always been curious about why some people have a higher aptitude for certain hobbies or sports while others don't. Summary: Completed Argument paragraph assignment. Reflection: I learned that an effective argument prepares evidence to refute counterclaims. Knowing this will better help me prepare for arguments as I progress through my academic career.

Prompt: Write about the best gift you have received.

 Prompt Response: The best gift that I received was $300 for Christmas one year because I got to buy my own gifts that I would enjoy. Summary: Started argumentative paragraph over unpopular opinions. Reflection: I learned that you can manipulate evidence from an argument to your advantage. Knowing this will better help me counter arguments as I continue in my academic career.
